Dominique Kassab Tezgör

Dominique Kassab Tezgör received her PhD in Ancient History and Civilization from the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne and her Doctorat d’État in Classical Archaeology from the University of Dijon. She also holds two diplomas from the École du Louvre, Paris (History of Art and Museology). She is specialized in Greek and Roman art and archaeology and her research includes more specifically terracottas and amphora, two fields on which she has published monographs, edited books and numerous articles. She has been the scientific director of the excavations of an amphorae workshop in Sinope, on the Turkish Black Sea coast. Presently a major part of her research regards the amphorae of Sinope and of Black Sea during the Roman period and the late antiquity. She is teaching in Bilkent University where she presently serves as a chair of the Department of Archaeology and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Letters.

Yasemin Afacan

Assoc. Prof. Yasemin Afacan received her Ph.D. in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design from Bilkent University in 2008, and MS in Architecture from Middle East Technical University. After working as a lecturer at the Queen’s University of Belfast, School of Planning in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Dr. Afacan joined Bilkent University Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in 2011 as a faculty member. Dr. Afacan is the department chair in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, vice dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, vice director of the Graduate School of Economics and Social Sciences at Bilkent University. Dr. Afacan has won the Young Scientist Award from the Science Academy of Turkey (BAGEP-2017) and the Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the Turkish Academy of Sciences (GEBIP-2018). She teaches sustainable design for interiors, and her research interest has been focused on environmental gerontology and sustainable architecture.

Beata Zalewska

Born in Poland, Beata Zalewska graduated in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and also studied Graphic Design at Hochschule für Künste Bremen, Germany. She worked in Gdańsk for several years as a graphic designer longing for her destiny and dedication which is painting. When she moved with her family to Turkey to work at Bilkent University in Ankara as an Art Instructor she finally met her muse again. Atmosphere, colours and places are a huge inspiration for Zalewska, they leave a lasting impression and move her imagination. Travelling around the country, visiting ancient ruins and the mythic, fairytale Cappadocia, she tries to recall mysterious images from the past. A camera which is her sketching tool has become her time vehicle. She hopes that anyone who decides to visit her webpage or see her exhibited works will have the pleasure of joining her in her journey. She also hopes that her fascination with art, nature, people and history will be or has already been highly contagious to her lovely children, her students, her friends and everyone who wants to accompany her on her mystical journey.

Müge Mengü Hale

Müge Mengü Hale joined the Department of Communication and Design in 2014. She received her BA in philosophy from The Bosphorus University, and MA in media studies from The New School University, NY with an emphasis on video production and earned a certificate on media management.

Müge Mengü Hale is an art and culture reporter, writer and editor with extensive experience in corporate and independent media. She worked as an editor for P Art, Culture, Antiques magazine, and researched on Ottoman, Turkish Republican and contemporary art. She worked as a reporter and feature writer for Doğan Media Group’s Finansal Forum and corresponded from NY for Referans Newspaper with her column “What’s New with New York”. Her other credits include translations for the UN, literary translations, and design study and research at The Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, NY.

She edits Bilkent Post, an online multimedia magazine compiled from COMD student work at bilkentpost.bilkent.edu.tr

Ekin Kılıç Ezer

Ekin Kılıç Ezer graduated from Bilkent University FADA Department of Graphic Design in 2002; she had completed her Master Degree and Proficiency in Art programs in Hacettepe University FFA, Department of Graphics. Kılıç Ezer continued to academic studies in Başkent Uni. Dept. of Communication Design (2003-2006) and Hacettepe Uni. Dept. of Graphics (2006-2012) as Research Asistant; She has been working at Bilkent University FADA Dept. of Graphic Design as Instructor since 2012. 

Kılıç Ezer is one of the founders of Kitschen Contemporary Art Initiative and Kolketif Molektif Streetart Project. In 2019 se had her first solo show; in addition to participation in many group exhibitions. Kılıç Ezer practicing as curator and designing exhibition visual identities as well as various graphic design projects and performing in the fields of video, typography and street art.

Gülçin Aydıngün

Gülçin Aydıngün received her bachelor’s degree from Bilkent University, department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in 2018. She worked as a freelancer after her bachelor’s program. In 2022, she started M.F.A program at Bilkent University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Currently, she is also a teaching assistant at the same department, assisting in a technical drawing course. Her research interests include usability in kitchen design, error-proofing concept in residential environments, and green retrofit of existing interiors.

Rümeysa Demirel

Rümeysa Demirel received her Bachelor’s degree from Bilkent
University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design
in 2021, and also completed her minor in Graphic Design during the same
period. Following her graduation, Demirel worked on residential projects
in an architectural office. In 2022, she started the M.F.A program at
Bilkent University, Department of Interior Architecture and
Environmental Design. Simultaneously, she is a teaching assistant,
contributing to the instruction of the Construction and Materials
course.

Her research interests revolve around the intricate dynamics of the
retail environment, visual merchandising, and their profound impact on
consumer buying behavior. In addition to her academic pursuits, Demirel
is a writer and editor, specializing in topics related to art and
motorsports.

Oya Yıldız

Oya Yıldız received her Bachelor’s Degree from Bilkent University in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in 2023. After graduation she started the M.F.A. Program at Bilkent University under acoustics topic. She is currently the assistant of 4th year design studio of the department. Her research interests consist of form studies in auditorium design and room acoustics.

Samira Asadmosaffar

Samira Asadmosaffar received her MArch from Middle East Technical University and her bachelor’s degree in architecture from Tabriz Art University in Iran. Samira continues her studies at Bilkent University in the department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design as a Ph.D. student, while she is assisting Basic Design Studios as well. Her research interests include politics and space, representation in built
environments, and environmental perceptions of destruction.

Cansu Zor

Cansu Zor received her bachelor’s degree from Bilkent University, department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in 2023. Right after she graduated, she started M.F.A program at Bilkent University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. She is a teaching assistant at the same department, assisting Interior Design Studio I. Her research interests include color theory, color psychology and lighting design. In her personal life, she is also interested in set design, exhibition design and cinema.

Meriç Selin Olcay received her bachelor’s degree from Bilkent University, department of International Relations, in 2023. Following graduation, she is pursuing the M.A. program at Bilkent University, Department of Communication and Design. She is also a teaching assistant in the same department, assisting Multimedia Journalism. Her research interests include political communication, semiotics, and queer spaces.

Cemal Ataş is a senior student at the Department of Communication and Design at Bilkent University. He is interested in communication science and computational methods and is currently studying to pursue further
